A new recreation area near Bolshoy Chernevsky Pond has appeared in Moscow.

A new recreation area by the water has been opened in the Yuzhnoye Butovo district on Bolshoy Chernevsky Pond in Moscow. This was announced by the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, on Friday, July 24.

According to him, this season 15 recreation areas of a new format near reservoirs have been set up in different districts of the capital. The existing sandy beach on Bolshoy Chernevsky Pond was expanded, another beach area with two heated pools was equipped, sun beds, awnings and umbrellas were installed, and pavilions with changing rooms, showers, cafes and a medical center were opened. About 500 people can relax here at the same time.

Sobyanin noted that the Chernevsky Ponds cascade is located on the territory of the Yuzhnoye Butovo Landscape Park and has existed for more than 250 years. Work on the improvement of the Bolshoy Pond began in October 2025 and was completed in May 2026, according to the Moscow City News Agency.

The mayor also stressed that in recent years, South Butovo has been actively developing transport and social infrastructure, and Moscow continues to help with the improvement of other Russian cities, writes Moscow 24.
