Maxim Sutormin, chief freelance neurologist at the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, head of the MONICA Neurology and Rehabilitation Service, said that physical activity helps reduce the risk of stroke.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, July 24, the doctor noted that physical inactivity is the second most important risk factor for stroke after hypertension. According to him, for prevention, it is recommended to take at least 10,000 steps daily, as well as to swim 20-30 minutes once or twice a week. This is useful not only for blood vessels, but also for the musculoskeletal system.

The specialist added that cycling also has a positive effect on health, as physical activity improves blood oxygen saturation and supports brain function.

In addition, the doctor advised using smart watches, fitness bracelets and mobile apps to monitor daily activity, noting that monitoring the number of steps taken should become a habit.

On the eve of July 23, Sutormin told how to distinguish fatigue from the first signs of a stroke. According to him, sudden neurological disorders are particularly dangerous, while symptoms associated with overwork may disappear after rest. A sharp severe headache, impaired sensitivity, movement and swallowing also require urgent medical attention, writes RT.

At the same time, Natalya Kadymova, a neurologist, called for an ambulance if the headache appeared suddenly and quickly reached maximum intensity. You should also make an appointment with a specialist in cases where seizures occur at least four times a month, the NSN clarifies.

Prior to this, on July 22, Sutormin noted that it is necessary to immediately seek medical help if there is sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, severe headache for no apparent reason, severe visual impairment, loss of balance, severe dizziness, confusion or loss of consciousness. 360.ru .

On July 22, the Vladimirsky Clinic said that a patient who could not swallow on his own for almost a year after a stroke due to severe muscle spasm in the laryngopharynx had swallowing function restored with minimally invasive endoscopic surgery. Doctors used a flexible endoscope to dissect the spasmodic muscle through the mouth, removing the obstacle to the passage of food. The very next day, the patient was able to take liquid food on his own, and four months later he had his gastrostoma completely removed, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
