The defense of the Balashikha poisoner is appealing the verdict due to violations of the investigation.

The defense of Balashikha poisoner Artyom Missyura, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, intends to appeal the court's decision in connection with a number of violations committed during the preliminary investigation. Lawyer Denis Companeets told Izvestia about this on July 24.

"At the previous meeting, I handed Artyom samples of appeals and cassation appeals and warned him that the court would impose a life sentence. I warned him, but of course he didn't believe me. He didn't want a life sentence. According to him, he would rather die in his military area, having signed a contract, trying to redeem himself, than die in a penal colony," said the Companion.

According to the lawyer, the investigation did make mistakes and the court is aware of this. In this regard, the criminal case must be returned to the prosecutor for further investigation.

"Artyom's position remains unchanged. He admitted his guilt. He also admitted civil claims, but did not dispute them. And the version was the same throughout the consideration of the criminal case. He didn't want to kill close relatives, he didn't want to kill other people, random people. Harm to health, yes," the lawyer added.

Currently, none of the close relatives are in touch with the defendant, and no one is responding to his letters. A lawyer is Missura's only connection to the outside world.

The day before, his mother recognized Artyom as an unworthy heir. The documents attesting to this appeared at the disposal of Izvestia. In them, the plaintiff asked to cancel the donation of a share of the apartment, made under a contract in favor of the defendant, and to apply the consequences of cancellation: to terminate the defendant's ownership of the specified share and recognize this right for himself. The court satisfied the claims in full.

The defense of Artyom Missyura, accused of murdering loved ones, insists on the absence of direct intent.

In May, the father of Missyura's murdered friend, as part of an examination, said that the attacker often showed sadistic tendencies as a child. He noted that Missyura had been bullying cats and dogs back then. He invariably reacted to accusations of meanness with a "grinning grin", shifting the blame to his friends.

In February, Missyura said that he had no plans to poison anyone except his stepfather, but later saw the elimination of loved ones as a solution to financial difficulties. At the same time, speaking about how he prepared treats with poisonous chemicals for his family, he stressed that he tasted the dishes himself, tasting them on the tip of a teaspoon and washing them down with water.

Missyura was detained on July 19, 2024. According to the investigation, from January to June, while in his parents' apartment, he put powerful chemicals in their food for fatal poisoning. Later, a surveillance camera was installed in the apartment, which recorded how Missyura poured toxic substances into his parents' food. On August 25 of this year, he fully admitted his guilt.
