The Federation Council called on the UN to assess the risk of the European Union unleashing a world war

The United Nations (UN) and other international bodies should condemn the statements of a number of European politicians about preparations for an armed conflict with Russia in order to prevent them from unleashing a new world war. This was announced on July 24 by Senator from the Sakhalin region Grigory Karasin.

"We condemn the militarization of the European Union, the pumping of weapons by the criminal Kiev regime, and aggressive statements by European politicians about the need to prepare for war in Russia...> We appeal <...> with an appeal <...> to speak out against the encouragement of the criminal regime in Ukraine and the incitement of a new world war," he read out the text of the relevant message from the Federation Council.

It is noted that the appeal was prepared in connection with the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Leningrad, which was launched by the Nazis on September 8, 1941 and lasted until January 27, 1944. The text emphasizes that more than 1 million people died there during this period. This historic event, as outlined in the statement, is a war crime and an act of genocide of the Soviet people.

Against this background, the Federation Council of Russia emphasized the inadmissibility of the rehabilitation of Nazism, as well as the downplaying of the decisive contribution of the USSR to the victory over Nazi Germany. The drafters stated that the acts of glorification of the Nazis and vandalism committed on monuments to the liberators of the Red Army are also unacceptable.
