The rules of prayer on the feast of the Transfiguration were explained to the faithful

On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, believers are advised to visit the temple whenever possible and take part in the festive divine service, since the main prayers of this day are performed during the liturgy. If you can't come to the service, you can turn to the prayers dedicated to the holiday and read the canon of the Transfiguration. Vladislav Beregovoy, a priest and head of the missionary department of the Pesochenskaya diocese, told Izvestia about this.

According to the clergyman, it is the liturgical prayers that reveal the meaning of the holiday and are the most important part of the prayer address on this day. He noted that the prayer services of the evening service on the eve of the feast and the liturgy in the morning on the day of the Transfiguration are of particular importance.

"The main prayers of this day are the prayers read at the liturgy, and, accordingly, nothing can be more important, therefore, if possible, come to the service on this day," Vladislav Beregovoy said.

The priest explained that believers who cannot visit the temple can independently read the canon of the feast of the Transfiguration, as well as other prayers related to this event. According to him, the texts of such prayers are available in Orthodox sources, including on the Internet.

At the same time, Beregovoy stressed that the holiday does not imply the mandatory introduction of any special additional prayer rule for believers. On this day, Orthodox Christians continue to perform their usual morning and evening prayers.

"Prayer is a conversation with God. You can read anything, anytime," the priest said.

He also noted that on any church holiday, believers turn to prayers that are related to its content. For example, if it is impossible to come to the temple on the saint's memorial day, you can read a prayer to this saint at home, and if you have time, a canon or akathist.
