The priest told about the main prayers for the Transfiguration of the Lord

On the day of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the main prayer for believers is performed at the Divine Liturgy, and if it is impossible to be present in the temple, participation in the celebration is allowed through the house prayer rule. Vladislav Beregovoy, the priest and head of the missionary department of the Pesochenskaya diocese, told Izvestia about this.

"The main prayer of this day is the prayers recited at the liturgy, and, accordingly, nothing can be more important. Therefore, if possible, come to the service on this day. Even if communion is impossible, believers can join in prayer by attending a service or listening to liturgical texts," the priest noted.

He drew attention to the significance of the evening service on the eve of the feast, noting that the prayer services performed during it are entirely devoted to the events of the Transfiguration, revealing their content and theological meaning. According to him, on the day of the feast, all the prayers of the morning liturgy are addressed to the sacrament of the Eucharist — the consecration of bread and wine as the body and blood of the Lord, which are partaken of by the faithful in the temple.

"If it is not possible to come to the temple on this day, then you can read the canon of the feast, which was read at the evening service. You can search the Internet for the canon of the feast of the Transfiguration, you can even search for the akathist," Beregovoy added.

The priest emphasized that, in general, believers are not required to follow any special prayer rules beyond the usual practice, noting that prayer is a conversation with God and you can read anything and anytime.
