Hydrologists predict that the Tura will begin to decrease by about the first decade of August. Then the smell of tap water will disappear. According to experts, the appearance of a pungent odor in tap water is directly related to flooding. Powerful streams washed away a large amount of rotting leaves, grass, and debris into the riverbed.

Since mid-July, residents of different districts of Tyumen connected to the Metelevsky water intake have been complaining massively about the quality of tap water. According to them, it has acquired a yellow hue and a pungent smell of swamp, mud and rot.

On July 21, a high-alert regime was introduced in the Nizhnetavdinsky district of the Tyumen region due to the threat of large-scale flooding. The decision was made after the water level in the Tavda River in the district reached the "unfavorable phenomenon" mark. A set of preventive measures is currently being implemented.
