320 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 320 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 24 people were killed and 369 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on July 24 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 52 accidents involving pedestrians, three people were killed, and 49 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 13 children among the injured, three of them were injured at pedestrian crossings, and 10 more were outside their area of operation. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 17 occurred at pedestrian crossings, 35 outside their area of operation.
15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 17 road users, including two minors, required medical assistance. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
In addition, over the past day, 57 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, as a result of which one child was killed, 59 more young road users were injured, including 17 child passengers and seven motor transport drivers.
So, in the Altai Republic, in the afternoon, on the 556th km of the federal highway R-256 "Chuisky Tract", a passenger car driver, while overtaking a truck ahead, entered the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with a foreign car moving in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, a passenger of an oncoming car died — a girl aged two months, who was transported in the front passenger seat in her mother's arms. Three more passengers of the foreign car, as well as the driver and passenger of the car that was overtaking, were injured. After providing medical care, they are prescribed outpatient treatment.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded that overtaking is one of the most dangerous maneuvers and requires maximum concentration from the driver, strict compliance with traffic regulations and an objective assessment of the road situation. Before overtaking, it is necessary to make sure that the oncoming traffic lane is clear at a sufficient distance, the maneuver is allowed by road signs and markings, and its completion will not interfere with other road users. Even a minor mistake or overestimation of one's capabilities can lead to a head-on collision with severe consequences, the department noted.
"The driver bears special responsibility when transporting passengers, especially children. Any risky maneuver greatly increases the likelihood of tragic consequences for those inside the car. The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that children should only be transported using child restraints and seat belts appropriate to their age, height and weight. Carrying a child in your arms does not provide protection in the event of a collision or sudden braking and can lead to the most serious consequences," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier, on July 10, it became known that in Moscow in the first half of 2026, the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication decreased by 25.9%. The number of deaths in them decreased by 8.3%, the number of injured — by 27.2%.
