Trans fats found in margarines, industrial pastries, fast food and many snacks can cause serious harm to the health of the cardiovascular system. The chief physician of Dr. Urasova's clinic, general practitioner Ulyana Urasova, told about this on Thursday, July 23.

"Trans fats increase the level of so-called bad cholesterol and at the same time reduce the concentration of good cholesterol, which creates a dangerous imbalance and contributes to the development of atherosclerosis. Excessive consumption of sugar and sweets is considered no less harmful," she said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

The specialist explained that sweet food quickly increases blood glucose levels, which over time can lead to obesity, type 2 diabetes and, as a result, increased stress on the heart. Thus, white bread and products made from premium flour have a high glycemic index, which leads to sharp spikes in blood sugar and creates additional stress on the cardiovascular system.

She added that the high sodium content in the diet provokes fluid retention and increased blood pressure, which is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, salt intake should be reduced. In addition, sausages, sausages and ham also contain large amounts of salt, saturated fats and preservatives, which negatively affect the condition of blood vessels and the heart, the specialist emphasized.

She noted that fatty dairy products are a source of calcium, but they contain a lot of saturated fats, so it is better to limit their consumption.

"Fast food, which combines fats, salt and sugar, contributes to weight gain, increased cholesterol levels and impaired metabolism," Urasova concluded.

On this day, Anastasia Poskakalova, a cardiologist at the Sberbank Health medical company, told RT that the atypical course of myocardial infarction is more common in the elderly and patients with diabetes mellitus. Instead of the classic pressing or burning pain behind the sternum, which persists for more than 20 minutes and can radiate to the left arm, neck, jaw or the area under the shoulder blade, a person may feel pain in another part of the chest, in the abdomen or back, writes RIAMO.

In turn, clinical adult and pediatric nutritionist Victoria Grishina told Izvestia on July 21 that the Mediterranean diet can support heart and vascular health, have a beneficial effect on metabolism, digestion and emotional state, as well as help control appetite and body weight.
