There have been 304 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 304 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 31 people were killed and 366 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on July 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 57 accidents involving pedestrians, two people were killed, and 59 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 14 children among the injured, six of them were injured at pedestrian crossings, and eight more were outside their area of operation. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 21 occurred at pedestrian crossings, 36 outside their area of operation.
12 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 14 road users, including one minor, required medical assistance. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
In addition, 56 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which two children were killed, 58 more young road users were injured, including 24 child passengers and 10 motor transport drivers.
So, in the Jewish Autonomous Region, in the afternoon, on the 2094th km of the federal highway R-297 Amur, the driver of a crossover, when leaving a secondary road at an unregulated intersection, did not give an advantage in movement to a truck moving along the main road, and collided with it. As a result of the accident, the driver of the crossover and two of his passengers, including a 15-year-old girl, were killed. Two more passengers were injured and were hospitalized.
In the Irkutsk region, in the evening, on the 171st km of the federal highway R-258 Baikal, a woman with less than two years of driving experience drove into oncoming traffic in a prohibited place, where she collided with a truck. As a result of the accident, the motorist herself and the two-year-old passenger of her car were killed. The truck driver was injured, and after receiving medical treatment, he was prescribed outpatient treatment.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that violation of the rules of passage of unregulated intersections remains one of the most common causes of traffic accidents with serious consequences. When approaching an intersection, the driver must slow down in advance, assess the traffic situation and strictly follow the requirements of the priority signs.
"When leaving a secondary road, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the maneuver and give an advantage to vehicles moving along the main road. Even a short-term loss of attention or an incorrect assessment of the traffic situation at an intersection can lead to a collision with serious consequences. The State Traffic Inspectorate urges drivers to be extremely careful when passing intersections, not to make hasty decisions and to remember that following the order of passage is one of the key conditions for ensuring road safety," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic Injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier, on July 10, it became known that in Moscow in the first half of 2026, the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication decreased by 25.9%. The number of deaths in them decreased by 8.3%, the number of injured — by 27.2%.
