In 2026, more and more people are abandoning complex beauty routines and choosing minimalistic skin care with a small amount of funds. Anastasia Murashkina, an expert of the French cosmetics brand Topicrem, told Izvestia about this on July 25.

According to the expert, skinimalism is a conscious approach to care, in which each product performs a specific task. This format is especially popular among a young audience that seeks to reduce the number of products, avoid unnecessary expenses and devote less time to daily procedures.

"Instead of constantly testing new products, attention is shifting to restoring the protective barrier of the skin, maintaining balance and regular care," Murashkina explained.

According to her, the interest in a minimalist approach is due to fatigue from complex routines that have been promoted on social media for a long time. The expert noted that frequent changes in active ingredients, including acids, vitamins, retinoids and peptides, can increase skin sensitivity and complicate the search for the cause of adverse reactions.

At the same time, the modern scientific approach shows that the skin does not always require a large amount of funds, but it is more important to choose a suitable basic care system.

Skinimalism is usually based on three stages: gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and daily UV protection. Cleansers should remove impurities and excess sebum without breaking the protective barrier of the skin. When choosing moisturizing products, it is important to take into account the type of skin and its condition, and it is recommended to use SPF products to protect against the sun.

"For daily use, you can choose a product with a light, comfortable texture. If you stay in the sun for a long time, the protection must be updated in a timely manner in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations," Murashkina said.

According to the expert, minimalistic care is also suitable for people with problematic skin, including a tendency to acne or pigmentation. However, new products should be introduced gradually and not combine several components at the same time, which can cause irritation. For example, the usual moisturizer can be replaced with a product with niacinamide, if this ingredient is suitable for the skin.

Murashkina emphasized that skinimalism is becoming not just a short-term trend, but a more rational attitude to skin care. The main principles of this approach remain regularity, comfort, clear formulations and the selection of products tailored to the individual needs of the skin.

On June 9, Anastasia Razbezhkina, a dermatovenerologist and cosmetologist, told us which mistake is the most important in summer skin care. The expert noted that the choice of SPF depends on the conditions of being outdoors. For a short stay indoors, funds with SPF 15 may be sufficient, while for walking it is better to choose SPF 30 or 50.
