The most powerful solar flare since July 7 was recorded on the morning of July 22. This was reported in the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The strongest solar flare since July 7 (that is, in more than two weeks) was recorded <...> at 09:35 Moscow time. The event occurred against the background of a general increase in solar activity in the last 24 hours," the Telegram channel says.

Over the past 24 hours, experts have recorded about 20 outbreaks, whereas a few days ago their number did not exceed one or two per day. As noted in the laboratory, flares occur in geoeffective regions of the Sun, which can potentially affect the Earth. At the same time, they do not pose an immediate threat yet.

The Institute of Applied Geophysics added that two more strong flares, M2.5 and M1.1, had been recorded the day before, on July 20.
