Dependence on vasoconstrictor drops and sprays can be cured in about 1.5 months. Natalia Agapova, an otorhinolaryngologist at the Romashka Clinical Diagnostic Center, announced this on Tuesday, July 21.

The specialist warned that the main danger of uncontrolled use of vasoconstrictor drops and sprays is the formation of drug-induced rhinitis, when the body becomes unaccustomed to independently regulate vascular tone. Because of this, after the effect of the drug ends, the vessels expand even more than before its use, and congestion increases.

"In order to ease breathing again, a person drips the drug more often, and this closes a vicious circle. Treatment of this addiction should take place under the supervision of a doctor, it is possible to get rid of it in 2-6 weeks, however, a lot of willpower is required from the patient," Agapova told the Moscow city News agency.

Doctors usually use various methods for therapy, including rinsing, vitamins, and the use of other drugs that relieve mucosal edema and do not cause such rapid addiction.

At the same time, Agapova emphasized that the main task is the patient's firm independent refusal of vasoconstrictor drops and relapse control.

In turn, otorhinolaryngologist Dmitry Shubin warned that otitis media often develops in summer after swimming, diving and hypothermia of the ears. Life.Ru . He urged careful use of air conditioning and not to self-medicate.

Shubin noted that during the hot season, doctors regularly detect various forms of otitis media, including fungal infections. 360.ru .

Earlier, on July 9, Nikita Danilin, an otorhinolaryngologist at the SM Clinic, said that curvature of the nasal septum occurs in most people and does not always require surgery, but persistent nasal congestion, sleep disorders and frequent inflammation may indicate the need for surgery.
