Trump announced a US strike on Iran's alleged new nuclear facility
The United States intends to strike at Iran's alleged new nuclear facility, American leader Donald Trump announced such plans on July 21 during a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House.
"We will absolutely attack. The new facility they're talking about (American media sources. — Ed.) they say. We will strike at this place. We will hit any place where they even think about nuclear [weapons] very hard," the US president said, speaking about the situation around Iran.
According to Trump, Washington is not interested in meeting with the Iranian side until Tehran is really ready for it constructively and it will make sense. Although Iran "desperately wants to hold talks to try to end the conflict," the politician added. Trump also noted that the United States does not plan to complete strikes on Iran yet.
"We're not quitting the game right now. If we finished tomorrow, it would still be a big victory for us. But we won't finish tomorrow," he added.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on July 20, citing its own sources, that the Israeli authorities were trying to convince the US administration to resume conducting full-scale strikes on Iranian territory in order to weaken the Islamic Republic. According to the newspaper, Israeli intelligence agencies allegedly provided Washington with information about Iran's alleged movement of centrifuges for uranium enrichment into deep underground tunnels. According to their intelligence, these facilities are located under Mount Kirk near the city of Natanz at a depth of 140 m.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai said on July 20 that Iran had received proposals through its intermediaries to resolve the escalation with the United States. He stressed that he would not go into details of the initiatives received by Tehran, but added that all the ideas of the mediators are supported.
