The adviser to the President of Lithuania pointed to the absence of a threat from Russia.

Lithuania does not see a direct military threat from Russia today, despite the general geopolitical tensions in the region. This was officially announced on July 21 by Senior Advisor to the President of the Baltic Republic Deivydas Matulenis.

"The level of direct threat has not changed — that is, we do not see a direct threat," he was quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the Lithuanian edition of Delfi.

At the same time, the representative of Vilnius called the election campaign to the Russian State Duma an additional risk factor. According to Matulenis, the Lithuanian authorities should never relax their vigilance, as Moscow will consistently try to achieve the desired results.

Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas said on July 15 that the words of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda about Russia's alleged plans to strike at the republic's infrastructure had not been confirmed. Kaunas added that Lithuania is strengthening protection at the border due to alleged provocations, examples of which he did not provide.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 15 that statements about Russia's alleged preparation of attacks on the infrastructure of the Baltic states were another batch of "horror stories" designed to justify further militarization of the region. According to Peskov, such statements are used to create an image of the enemy in the face of Russia and to further build up NATO's military infrastructure in the Baltic states.
