In Ukraine, eight people were suspected of embezzling 150 million hryvnias.

Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities suspected eight people, including several law enforcement officers, of embezzling 150 million hryvnias (265 million rubles) allocated for the needs of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU). This was reported by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on July 21.

Investigators suspect embezzlement of officials of the NSU headquarters, two businessmen-owners of controlled companies, as well as two directors of appraisal organizations who deliberately overestimated the value of the property planned for purchase.

According to the investigation, in 2024, senior NSU employees expressed the need to purchase storage facilities for National Guard employees. Instead of buying real estate directly from the owners, officials colluded with entrepreneurs. The latter purchased the necessary premises through a controlled company and immediately resold it to the NSU at an artificially inflated price of 143 million hryvnias.

In addition, the same attackers decided to repeat the successful scheme: they managed to embezzle more than 7 million hryvnias for the purchase of solar panels for military units and tires for armored vehicles. It is noted that after the illegal enrichment, the material condition of the suspects has improved significantly.: They have replenished their fleets with modern premium cars, and also purchased land and other real estate in the Kiev region and in the Bukovel ski resort.

On June 22, Ukrainska Pravda reported that the Ukrainian police suspected six people of organizing a corrupt scheme to seize budgetary funds allocated for the demining of agricultural lands. The attackers simulated carrying out work on sites that had actually been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance back in 2023-2024.

On June 29, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine reported that the current People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, suspected of corruption, was detained by the service. The department clarified that in January 2022, the parliamentarian received $12 thousand (558 thousand hryvnias). The specified amount was 30% of the cost of the equipment that was supplied to one of the hospitals in Zhytomyr. At the same time, the official SAP report does not directly mention the name of the detainee.
