Germany and the UK will develop a long-range cruise missile by 2034

The United Kingdom and Germany plan to complete the development of a new cruise missile with a range of 2,000 km by 2034. This was reported on July 21 by the German newspaper Die Welt, citing informed sources.

10 European countries have joined the program led by London and Berlin to create the Deep Precision Strike (DPS) long-range system. The declared range of the complex exceeds 2 thousand km.

"By 2034, the two countries plan to develop a cruise missile with a range of 2,000 kilometers. DPS is needed to deliver high—precision long-range strikes," the newspaper writes.

The publication clarifies that the development is underway in case of an allegedly probable conflict with Russia. According to sources in the military industry, the details of the DPS project are strictly classified.

It is assumed that the system will be based on British technologies with financial support from the German side. The newspaper's interlocutors noted that in Britain, the pace of the project's implementation is assessed as good.

Currently, two technological solutions are being considered: the creation of a rocket for flights at ultra-low altitudes or the development of a hypersonic projectile capable of reaching speeds five times the speed of sound.
