The third norovirus outbreak has occurred on a cruise ship off the coast of Alaska since May.

There has been an outbreak of norovirus on the National Geographic Sea Bird cruise ship off the coast of Alaska. This is stated in the report of the Ship Sanitation Program (VSP).

The crew members have urgently isolated the sick and are carrying out enhanced disinfection of surfaces. Currently, the source of the infection has not yet been identified.

Since May, this outbreak of infection has already become the third on the ship. Then, at the end of the month, nine tourists and three crew members fell ill, then, at the end of June, another 20 people.

The new report shows that the third outbreak was recorded on July 12 on a flight from Sitka to Juneau two days after leaving the port. At that time, 18 passengers out of 62 on board complained of feeling unwell, vomiting and abdominal pain. The crew isolated them and intensified the cleaning.

He noted that the disease had affected elderly Europeans traveling on comfortable liners from Argentina to Cape Verde. According to Onishchenko, this is a well-known virus that existed and manifested itself for many years even before the incident on the cruise ship.
