In Tula, on Tuesday, July 21, a mass baptism of babies born into large families will be held. The campaign "Having many children is a gift from God" was timed to coincide with the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, one of the most revered Orthodox holidays.

Holding an action on this day is a symbol of spiritual support for the family, motherhood and traditional values. The aim of the project "Having many children is a gift from God" is to draw public attention to the issues of supporting large families and strengthening family traditions.

It is organized by the regional Ministry of Social Protection and the Tula Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. The initiator of the project is Archpriest Sergei Rezukhin, rector of several churches and head of the diocese's Department for Social Service and Charity.

According to TSN24, 10 babies who were born into large families in 2026 will take part in the sacrament. The ceremony will be held in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God has long been considered one of the most revered shrines in Russia.
