Childhood and the first steps in sports

Zagitova was born in Izhevsk. Her father is hockey coach Ilnaz Zagitov. She started skating in her hometown, but moved to Moscow for professional growth. A key stage in her development was her transfer to coach Eteri Tutberidze's group at the Crystal department of the Sambo-70 school.

Sports career and the "Grand Slam"

Alina Zagitova's career took off during the 2017-2019 Olympic cycle. In the 2017/2018 season, she won the Grand Prix final, and then became the European champion. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Zagitova won a gold medal in the individual competition and a silver medal in the team competition.

In 2019, the figure skater won the World Championship, which allowed her to become the first Russian single skater to hold all significant titles in sports: Olympic gold, World and European Championships, as well as winning the Grand Prix final.

Alina Zagitova was awarded state awards for her outstanding sporting achievements. In 2018, she was awarded the Order of Friendship. She also holds the honorary title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Education

After completing the active competitive phase, the athlete focused on getting a higher education. She entered the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in the direction of "Production and Cultural Policy" of the Faculty of Journalism. Alina Zagitova also studied at the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism (RSUFKSMiT).

Personal life

The athlete grew up in the family of professional hockey coach Ilnaz Zagitov. Her younger sister Sabina also practiced figure skating. Zagitova does not disclose the details of her personal life. In 2018, the media first started talking about the girl's affair with hockey player Kirill Kaprizov. However, Zagitova herself rejected these speculations.

Later, during a conversation with journalists at VK Fest in the summer of 2026, she said: "I'll say this: personal is not public."

Current activities

In December 2019, Alina Zagitova announced the suspension of her sports career. Since that time, she has been actively working in the media space, in particular, she acted as a presenter. The athlete regularly participates in Russian ice shows, as well as develops her own social and creative projects.
