More than 1 million right-hand drive cars have been imported to Russia since 2022

From January 2022 to June 2026, 1 million passenger cars and about 30 thousand commercial vehicles with right-hand drive were imported to Russia. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on July 21.

The majority of right-hand drive vehicles (98%) arrived in the country in used condition (older than three years). The average age of imported cars was five to six years.

Almost 98% of right-hand drive vehicles imported into the Russian Federation in 2022 have engines with a capacity of up to 160 hp. According to data on classifieds, the average cost of such vehicles ranges from 1.5 to 2 million rubles, and over the past 4 years it has increased by about 40%.

Over the past 4.5 years, Toyota (38% share), Honda (28.3%), Nissan (8.7%), Suzuki (5%) and Subaru (4.8%) cars have been imported into the Russian Federation most often. Among the best-selling models was the Honda Freed (74.4 thousand units), the top three also included the Honda Fit (60.4 thousand units) and Toyota Corolla (55.5 thousand units).

Earlier, on June 24, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced that there were no plans to introduce bans for right-hand drive vehicles. The ministry noted that they are engaged in research and analytical work related to the risks of driving right-hand drive vehicles.
