Russian cities offer tourists different formats of cultural recreation — from theatrical productions and musical events to historical festivals and acquaintance with national traditions. Alexandra Lavrentieva, an expert at the Ticketland ticket showcase, told Izvestia on July 22 how to choose a destination based on her interests.

"Some cities are popular for productions, others for large—scale concerts, and others for national traditions," Lavrentieva noted.

According to the expert, Moscow is suitable for music lovers, where events of various genres take place — from classical and jazz programs to rock concerts and pop shows. Opera fans should pay attention to Novosibirsk.

For a historical atmosphere, you can go to Veliky Novgorod or Vyborg. Veliky Novgorod hosts reconstructions, craft workshops, and programs dedicated to Ancient Russia and the Middle Ages. Jousting tournaments, fairs, costumed performances and musical performances are organized in Vyborg.

You can get acquainted with the national culture in Kazan. Yekaterinburg is suitable for fans of modern drama, while Perm should be chosen for ballet lovers. Those who are looking for an unusual museum route can go to Klin, Lavrentieva concluded.

Analysts of the online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok told Izvestia on July 14 that every fifth booking for the summer falls on weekend trips. According to the company, in July and August, trips from Friday or Saturday to Sunday account for 20% of all bookings in Russia.
