- Footage of the elimination by return fire of an agent of the GUR of Ukraine in Tyumen has been published
The operation to detain an agent of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who was preparing a sabotage and terrorist act at a large enterprise, was carried out late at night. The relevant footage was shown on July 21 at the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
"When he was caught red-handed, he (the attacker. — Ed.) opened fire with automatic weapons at members of the special forces of the FSB of Russia and as a result was neutralized by return fire," the ministry said in a statement.
The footage shows how the FSB officers clearly urged the man several times to leave his hiding place and raise his hands. However, he ignored this request and started shooting, as a result of which neither the staff of the department itself nor civilians were injured.
In addition to the process of detention and the shootout, the footage captured a search that was conducted at the agent's place of residence in Kiev. So, among his personal belongings, they found a package with cartridges for a Kalashnikov assault rifle, which was found with him after the liquidation, as well as several packages with various chemical compounds. In addition, large quantities of equipment, various wires, as well as striking sharp elements were stored in the house.
It became known on the same day that an agent of the GUR of Ukraine who was trying to get to a hiding place in one of the abandoned buildings was eliminated in Tyumen. It was clarified that he was planning to commit a terrorist attack on a large enterprise in the Urals.
Upon the incident, the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Tyumen region initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 ("Preparation for a terrorist act"), Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal trafficking in firearms, ammunition"), Part 1 of Article 222.1 ("Illegal trafficking firearms") and Article 317 ("Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer") of the Criminal Code of Russia.
