The verdict in the murder case of 20 years ago was passed in Yekaterinburg.

A court in Yekaterinburg has handed down a verdict in the case of the murder and dismemberment of a young woman committed more than 20 years ago. This is reported by the prosecutor's office and the SU IC of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region.

The murder took place at the end of May 2003 in a house on Asbestovsky Lane. According to the investigation, the 45-year-old landlady invited a close friend, a 39-year-old woman, to visit with the aim of killing her.

As soon as the woman crossed the threshold of the apartment, the landlady and two of her guests attacked her. They beat her, inflicted multiple injuries with their hands, feet and various objects, and then strangled her. The victim died on the spot.

After the murder, they dismembered their victim's body in the bathroom and scattered the fragments in different locations in Yekaterinburg. The remains were found by the townspeople at different times in May and June 2003.

The Kirovsky District Court of the city found the landlady of the apartment, a woman born in 1958, and her guest, a man born in 1972, guilty under paragraph "g" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Murder committed by a group of persons by prior agreement." The authorities do not report on the third accomplice of the crime, who strangled the woman.

According to the <url> news agency, the woman was sentenced to 13 years and three months in prison to be served in a general regime colony, the man to 11 years to be served in a high—security colony.

Earlier in June, it was reported that in Yekaterinburg, a local resident was charged with two murders committed in 1993.
