The defense of digital artist Sergei Galanter, accused of fraud in the amount of $6 million, has appealed a seven-year sentence. This was reported to Izvestia on July 20 in court.

On July 3, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow found Sergei Galanter guilty and sentenced him to seven years in prison in a multimillion-dollar fraud case.

According to investigators, Galanter organized a pyramid scheme through which he attracted more than 200 investors and raised about $6 million under the guise of investments in NFT paintings. The promised payments were never received by the participants, and 31 episodes of fraud appear in the case.

Galanter was arrested at the end of December 2023. In February, the court's decision to extend the period of detention came into force.

The artist himself told Izvestia that he did not see any deception in his activities, and claimed that investors would certainly receive their money. According to him, the deal just "moved a little bit."
