The production of the family film "Puss in Boots. New adventures"

On July 21, the Berg Sound Film Company, together with XOVP, announced the start of production of the full-length feature film "Puss in Boots. New Adventures" based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault.

The project is being implemented with the support of the National Media Group Holding (NMG) and Art Pictures Distribution. Filming is scheduled for the summer and autumn of 2026. The film will be directed by Irina Obidova. The main roles in the project will be played by Pavel Derevyanko, Alexander Metelkin, Ida Galich, Artyom Saribekov, Olga Sukhareva and other artists.

The plot of the original fantasy unfolds in the modern world around a hero named Andrey, who is trying to save an inherited theater by staging a musical and featuring Puss in Boots. The picture combines elements of fairy tales, family movies and a wide range of musical series.

"This is not just a new reading of the world classics, but a truly original film combining advanced technological shooting, a dynamic plot and many exciting stunt scenes. A key component of the project is a completely new format of a large musical film for the Russian industry. It will use well—known and beloved compositions of recent decades," said Mikhail Pogosov, the screenwriter of the film.

XOVP is responsible for the visual effects and animation of the main character. Filming will take place on LED screens using artificial intelligence technologies.

"In this project, we will use the full range of modern tools to create a visual series. Some of the musical numbers will be implemented using Virtual Production — In Camera VFX technology. The design and setting of which will be created by the artists of our company XOVP, together with the most advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. We also plan to apply a new approach to the creation of the Puss in Boots character itself," said producer Andrey Gurkin.

The film will be distributed by NMG Film Distribution, and Art Pictures Distribution will handle international distribution. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2027.
