The expert listed five crossovers with non-fuel-hungry internal combustion engines.
The Russian fleet has a number of relatively modern models that structurally tolerate the use of Euro-3 gasoline more easily than cars with sensitive direct injection turbo engines. Konstantin Yershov, coach of the training center of the international network of car service centers, told about this on July 20, who listed these models.
The expert put the Toyota RAV4 of the third generation with naturally aspirated 2.0 engines (152 hp; 1AZ-FE) in the first place in the top 5.
"There is no turbine, no direct injection, a robust piston group and a resource-efficient design. In the operating manuals, the fuel requirement goes something like this: unleaded gasoline with the right octane rating, without exotic sulfur restrictions. That is, the engine is designed for real Russian gasoline of the mid‑2010s, which is closer in quality to today's Euro‑3," the Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Ershov as saying.
The specialist noted that these RAV4 engines are easier to survive the increased sulfur content, however, in such conditions, the oil and exhaust system age. During long‑term operation on Euro-3 fuel, the expert advised to reduce the oil change interval to about 5-6 thousand km and to carry out preventive cleaning of the fuel system more often.
In second place in the rating was the Renault Duster crossover with atmospheric 2.0 (F4R) and some 1.6-liter units. Next are Hyundai Creta (I generation, 1.6 and 2.0 MPi atmospheric), Nissan X‑Trail (T31, 2.0/2.5 atmospheric) and Lada Niva (including Niva Travel, 1.7 petrol).
Andrey Babushkin, Technical director of LN Distribution LLC, said on June 25 that the use of so-called fuel pills, which appeared on marketplaces and allegedly artificially increase the octane number of cheap gasoline, instead of benefits, is guaranteed to lead owners to overhaul the engine.
