The expert assessed the "cardboard protests" in Ukraine

Protests against the resignation of Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov do not threaten Zelensky's power. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacekeeping Initiatives and Conflictology, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"This is an unpleasant moment for Zelensky, but nothing more. After all, the scale of the actions and the reason are not too significant. At the same time, I fully admit that Alexander Syrsky, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, may be dismissed after Fedorov. He's been criticized a lot lately, and he obviously doesn't understand the realities of modern high—tech warfare well," he stressed.

In mid-July, Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. Along with her, members of the government lost their posts, including the popular head of the defense department, Mikhail Fedorov, who had a protracted conflict with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky.

Against this background, protests began in the country. Interior Minister Igor Klimenko was initially considered the main candidate for the vacant post, but he declined the post. As a result, the former head of the SBU, Yevgeny Khmara, became the acting Minister of Defense.
