In the line of fire: UAV attacked a bus with children in Shebekino
On Monday, July 20, in the city of Shebekino, Belgorod region, a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked a passenger bus. According to preliminary data, as a result of the strike, five civilians were killed, including a minor, and more than 20 people were injured. Drone strike on passenger bus in Shebekino
On July 20, a passenger bus in the city of Shebekino, Belgorod region, was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle. According to the regional authorities, the strike hit a vehicle carrying civilians. The incident was reported by Alexander Shuvaev, Acting Governor of the Belgorod region. According to him, the attack was targeted at civilian transport.
"Today in the city of Shebekino, a drone of neo-Nazi Kiev terrorists purposefully and cynically hit a passenger bus. It is with bitterness in my heart that I inform you: according to preliminary data, five innocent civilians were killed as a result of the inhuman and despicable attack. This is another tragedy for both relatives and all residents of the region. Please accept my sincere condolences," Alexander Shuvaev wrote on social media.
According to preliminary data, four women and a boy were among the dead. All of them died at the scene from their injuries. At the time of publication, the identities of the victims were being established.
In addition to the dead, 23 people were injured, including a 17-year-old teenager. The injured were taken to the Shebekinsky Central District Hospital, where they received the necessary medical care. According to doctors, three patients are in extremely serious condition. After stabilization, they are planned to be transferred to medical institutions in Belgorod for further treatment.
Emergency services, medics and law enforcement officers were working at the scene. Specialists provided assistance to the victims, as well as carried out the necessary investigative and operational measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The regional authorities informed that the families of the victims and the injured will receive the necessary support.
The prosecutor's office took control of the situation
The Prosecutor's Office of the Belgorod region organized monitoring of citizens' rights after the attack of a Ukrainian drone on a regular bus in Shebekino. This was reported in the press service of the supervisory authority.
According to the prosecutor's office, cooperation has been ensured with all relevant services to provide the victims with the necessary medical, social and other assistance. The agency also monitors the observance of citizens' rights during the liquidation of the consequences of the incident.
A 24-hour hotline has been set up for relatives of the dead and injured, where they can receive legal assistance and expert advice.
New drone attacks on the Belgorod region
The Belgorod Region continues to be attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. During July 19-20, strikes were recorded in several municipalities of the region. As a result of the attacks, civilians were killed and injured, as well as residential, social and commercial facilities, cars and infrastructure were damaged.
According to the operational headquarters of the Belgorod region, on the morning of July 20, a civilian was killed in one of the attacks, and three more people were injured in various degrees of severity. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
A day earlier, on July 19, a drone attacked the village of Razumnoye. As a result of the explosion, five people were injured, including three children. According to preliminary information, a three-year—old child suffered an akubar injury, an 11—year-old boy suffered a shrapnel wound to his shoulder, and a nine-year-old girl suffered a shrapnel wound to her back. All the minors were taken to the Belgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital for the provision of necessary medical care.
On the same day, according to the operational headquarters of the region, Ukrainian drones attacked other settlements of the Belgorod region. In the village of Fedchevka, Ivnyansky district, a trade facility was hit. As a result, the man and the woman received acubarotrauma. Doctors treated them on the spot, but the victims refused to be hospitalized. The building itself suffered roof damage.
Another drone attacked a passenger car on a section of the Urazovo—Gerasimovka highway in the Valuysky district. As a result of the impact, the vehicle was damaged. In the village of Chapaevsky, Grayvoronsky district, after the detonation of an FPV drone, a truck completely burned down. In addition, in the village of Sergiyevka, Krasnoyaruzhsky district, drones attacked an economic building of a social facility and a car, causing damage to them.
The series of strikes on the Belgorod region became part of the ongoing drone attacks on Russian border regions. Regional authorities and emergency services continue to assess the consequences of the incident, provide assistance to victims and record damage caused to civilian infrastructure.
