- The Russian car market was predicted to decline in July relative to the beginning of summer
While maintaining the current sales rate, by the end of July, the Russian car market may show a result slightly lower than in June, when 116.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on July 20.
Thus, the Russian car market showed a decline again last week. If in the first full week of July it decreased by 16.2% compared to the previous one, then last week the indicator decreased by another 3%. At the same time, the positive dynamics remains (+3%) compared to the same week last year.
"Demand remains at a stable average level, with no pronounced trends. The forecast for the results of the year remains the same — 1.3-1.35 million vehicles," the expert added.
In the segment of light commercial vehicles (LCVs), sales decreased by 6.8% last week (1,247 units). Compared to last year, there remains a significant drop (-17.3%), the analyst noted. The truck segment was also in the red. Sales amounted to 944 units, which is 6.5% less than a week earlier, but 2.7% more than the same week last year.
Earlier, on July 16, expert Sergey Tselikov said that big discounts and sales on the car market, as it was last year, should not be expected this season. There is nothing left to sell to dealers, as car stocks at dealers and distributors are normal, he noted.
