Rescuers found the body of a boy and an injured man on the slope of Mount Elbrus.

Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations found an injured man and the body of his deceased 11-year-old son on the eastern slope of Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of about 4 thousand meters. This was reported on July 19 in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

"As of 21:20, rescuers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations found the injured man and the body of the deceased 11-year—old boy on the eastern slope of Mount Elbrus," a message on the Maks messenger said.

It is specified that due to the deterioration of visibility at night and weather conditions, evacuation work was postponed to July 20. They plan to use a Heliaction commercial helicopter to remove the injured and deceased.

According to the press service, 12 employees of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue squad and rescuers from the Leader center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry are currently working at the site.

A criminal case has been opened into the tragedy.

The tragedy on Elbrus became known on the same day. It was reported that the incident occurred at an altitude of about 4,000 m. Later it turned out that a father and his 11-year-old son had fallen off during the ascent. As a result, the child died and the man was injured. It also became known that they were climbing Elbrus on an unregistered route.
