Two German climbers died in the Alps
Two German climbers died in the Austrian Alps, both fell from a height, DPA reported on July 19, citing police data.
"A German tourist fell from a height of about 100 m from the Via Ferrata route near the border with Germany in the western part of the federal state of Vorarlberg, losing his balance while unfastening his safety equipment," the material says.
In another incident in Tyrol, a 63-year-old German man fell from a height of about 200 m while descending from the Wildspitze Mountain. He died from his injuries.
On July 1, the Bild newspaper reported on the evacuation of the body of an Indian climber who had been lying on Mount Everest for 30 years. According to the newspaper, the tourist, who was nicknamed "green boots" by other climbers because of the color of his shoes, was identified only recently in connection with preparations for the extraction of the remains.
