The number of fatal earthquake victims in Venezuela has increased to 5,119
The death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela has reached 5,119 people. This was announced on July 18 by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez.
"5,119 people died, 16,740 were injured, and 6,462 were rescued," the Telegram channel said in a statement.
It is noted that assistance has been provided to more than 128 thousand families, and almost 18 thousand citizens have been left homeless. Almost 21.5 thousand people are housed in 107 temporary camps. In addition, 190 buildings were destroyed and 856 more were damaged as a result of the disaster.
According to the text of the message, almost 31 thousand military personnel and more than 31 thousand volunteers, as well as 2,278 international rescuers, were involved in the aftermath. More than 10 thousand tons of food and over 32.8 million liters of water were distributed to the victims. It is noted that 1,350 aftershocks were recorded.
The earthquake in Venezuela occurred on June 24. The epicenter was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe. The earthquake was the strongest in the country since 1900.
