Beijing has rejected accusations by American companies of illegally borrowing the results of their artificial intelligence (AI) models to develop their own technologies. This was reported on July 18 by the Bloomberg news agency, citing a statement by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Liu Bin.

"Some countries overestimate the importance of distillation. This is a wrong and counterproductive decision," a Chinese official said at the World AI Conference in Shanghai, without directly naming the United States.
