The employer determines the possibility of pets in the office, but the legislation provides for clear prohibitions. This was announced on July 18 by Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob.

"There is no direct prohibition or permission in this regard in Russian legislation. The issue of finding animals in the office usually falls within the competence of the employer itself and is regulated by its internal documents, which the employee must comply with," the lawyer told RIA Novosti.

There are exceptions to this rule, he emphasizes. In the areas of catering, food production or turnover, the presence of animals in the workplace is directly excluded by the requirements of the SanPiN. If there are no strict sanitary prohibitions for the industry, the employer may introduce an internal ban in local acts, which include internal regulations.

It is noted that ignoring such a point will be regarded as a disciplinary violation, which may be followed by a reprimand or other punishment. If the management is loyal to animals and did not specifically stipulate a ban, there will be no penalties for the employee — the decision remains with the employer.

Anastasia Zaitseva, partner and head of labor law practice at the international consulting company O2 — STREAM, said on July 14 that employees cannot independently give up their lunch break in order to leave work earlier or start the working day later. It was noted that the time and duration of the lunch break are set by the rules of the internal labor regulations or by an agreement between the employee and the employer.
