A young driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove into a bus stop with people in Cheboksary

In Cheboksary, on Afanasyev Street, a car crashed into a bus shelter, killing a woman. This was announced on Friday, July 17, in the press service of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chuvash Republic.

"Previously, an 18-year—old Renault Logan driver drove off the roadway and hit a bus shelter where people were standing," the Telegram channel said.

As a result of the accident, a woman died, her identity is now being established. Another man was seriously injured and was hospitalized in an unconscious state.

As noted in the Interior Ministry, the cause of the accident was that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. All the circumstances of the incident are currently being established.

On July 17, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia informed Izvestia that 271 accidents had occurred on Russian roads over the past day, in which 26 people were killed and 317 injured. It was noted that as a result of 53 accidents involving pedestrians, four people were killed, and 52 more were injured in various degrees of severity.
