The number of fatal earthquake victims in Venezuela has exceeded 5,000 people.
The death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela has reached 5,069 people. This was announced on July 17 by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez.
"5,069 people died, 16,740 were injured, and 6,462 were rescued," the Telegram channel says.
It is noted that assistance was provided to 128,324 families, 17,907 citizens were left homeless. 21,235 people are housed in 107 temporary camps.
As a result of the disaster, 190 buildings were destroyed, and 856 more were damaged.
Almost 31 thousand military personnel and more than 31 thousand volunteers, as well as more than 2 thousand international rescuers, were involved in the aftermath.
It follows from the publication that more than 10 thousand tons of food and over 29.5 million liters of water were distributed to the victims. 36,951 patients received medical care. The number of aftershocks increased to 1,331.
The earthquake in Venezuela occurred on June 24. The epicenter was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe. The earthquake was the strongest in the country since 1900.
