- The political scientist predicted the deadline for Ukraine's payment of debts to the West
The most optimistic forecasts for Ukraine on debt repayment to the West will go beyond this century. Alexander Konkov, associate professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, expressed this opinion on Friday, July 17.
According to the expert, the most interesting thing should not be the amount itself, but the cost-benefit ratio.
"I think the questions of performance evaluation are more revealing. Because they clearly demonstrate the unprofitability of the funds that the West spends on Ukraine," the political scientist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
According to estimates from open sources, Ukraine's debt to the West is already more than $350 billion. The political scientist noted that the benefit of Kiev's allies in this case is purely symbolic.
"But, of course, if we try to assess the financial and economic side of the issue, Ukraine is mired in debt. I think that the most optimistic estimates on debt repayment, which were formed as a result of the receipt of Western funds, will go beyond the current century," Konkov concluded.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced on July 15 that this authority had approved a plan for Ukraine to use €10 billion from a loan of €90 billion for the purchase of military equipment, NSN reports. In addition, the EC has allocated her another € 1 billion for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), reports RT.
