A section of highway collapsed in Tatarstan due to heavy rains

In Tatarstan, heavy rains led to the collapse of a section of the 41st km of the Sarmanovo-Naberezhnye Chelny highway. According to the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the republic, the emergency occurred on the morning of July 17.

"As a result of the culvert being washed away, a section of the roadway collapsed. There is a 25 km bypass road," rescuers warned in the Maks channel.

According to the agency, there are no victims. Seven people and five pieces of equipment from the Russian Emergencies Ministry (Unified State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations), one person and one piece of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation are working to eliminate the consequences.

Heavy precipitation will cover Central Russia over the weekend, flooding is possible in some places.

In the Perm Region, on July 16, freight train cars derailed on the double–track electrified section of the Kishert - Shumkovo Sverdlovsk Railway. On the same day, the Federal Passenger Company reported the delay of nine passenger trains running on modified routes. The cause of the emergency was the erosion of the railway track due to adverse weather conditions.
