Navrotsky vetoed bills extending the rights of LGBT couples

Polish President Karol Nawrocki blocked two bills that provided for the legalization of same-sex unions (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 17.

"Navrotsky vetoed bills that provided for the introduction of "cohabitation agreements" for same—sex couples," the article says.

According to the newspaper, these bills would allow two adults to enter into an agreement that would regulate issues such as the rights to joint property, access to medical information and issues related to burial.

However, despite the support of these innovations from the ruling coalition in Poland, Navrotsky himself said that the bills still "go too far." He stressed that these rules create a new, legal institution of family law, endowed with the same list of rights as traditional marriage, complements "Газета.Ru ".

"As the guardian of the constitution, I cannot make a decision that will lead to the loss of the special status of marriage defined in article 18 of the Constitution as the union of a man and a woman under the protection and guardianship of the Republic of Poland," Nawrocki concluded.

At the same time, in January it was reported that Poland would replace the definitions of husband and wife with "spouse No. 1" and "spouse No. 2" in the marriage certificate. Such a reform, as explained, is necessary in order to be able to issue Polish marriage certificates to same-sex couples.
