Alexander Barabanov became a player of Avtomobilist

Striker Alexander Barabanov has signed a contract with the Yekaterinburg hockey club Avtomobilist. This was announced on July 16 by the team's press service.

"Alexander Barabanov is a player of Avtomobilist," the Telegram channel says.

Since 2024, Barabanov has played for Ak Bars Kazan. Previously, in the Kontinental Hockey League, he defended the colors of St. Petersburg SKA, with which he twice won the Gagarin Cup in 2015 and 2017. The player also has experience playing in the National Hockey League, where he represented the Toronto and San Jose clubs.

As a member of the national team, the striker won gold at the 2018 Olympic Games, and also twice became the bronze medalist at the World Championships in 2017 and 2019.

Morozov and Shilov are considered the main domestic candidates, but several more players from the KHL and the MHL have chances.

On June 1, Yaroslavl Hockey club Lokomotiv announced the appointment of Dmitry Kvartalnov as the head coach of the team. Lokomotiv stressed that work on the formation of the coaching staff continues, and its full composition will be announced later.
