Galyaviev's wife called the information about the intention to send her for treatment disinformation.

On July 16, the wife of Ilnaz Galyaviev, who was sentenced to life in prison and shot nine people in a Kazan gymnasium in 2021, denied reports in an interview with Izvestia that her relatives intended to send her for treatment because of her marriage.

Earlier, the media reported that on June 30, Galyaviev married Diana, an 18-year-old resident of Tatarstan. Later, information appeared that the girl's relatives allegedly did not accept her decision, refused to recognize her as their daughter and thought about placing Diana in a psychiatric hospital.

According to Galyaviev's wife, the parents reacted to the marriage normally, but the information disseminated does not correspond to reality.

"Absolutely, it's disinformation, that is, no psychiatric hospital, that's all disinformation," Diana said.

At the same time, the girl did not tell what prompted her to marry.

"I don't even intend to comment yet. <...> Let everything settle down a bit," she added.

Galiev, who staged the shooting at the Kazan gymnasium, did not appeal the verdict.

The attack on the school in Kazan was committed on May 11, 2021. Galyaviev opened fire in the building and also detonated an improvised explosive device. The attacker was detained by FSB officers. The victims of the attack were seven children and two adults.

In November 2022, a man pleaded guilty to the murder of nine people at Kazan Gymnasium No. 175. By the decision of the Supreme Court of Tatarstan, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Later, in August 2023, he was transferred to serve his life sentence in IK-6, known as the "Black Dolphin", in Sol-Iletsk, Orenburg region. Last October, Galyaviev did not appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
