Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford said that American companies need to learn how to beat Chinese cars in their own field. Excerpts from his speech at the Axios event in Washington are quoted by Autoevolution.

Henry Ford's great-grandson emphasized that the appearance of Chinese cars in car dealerships across America has become a matter of "when," not "if."

"We can't expect to be able to keep them out forever," he said. According to him, protectionist barriers currently prevent the import of Chinese cars into the country, but American automakers should not rely solely on government intervention.

Therefore, cars that are manufactured in the United States must have the same level of quality and advanced technology, as well as receive significant subsidies, Ford said. He also advocated stable bipartisan industrial policy, as car development cycles are usually much longer than American political election cycles.

Belgian car designer Pierre Leclerc, who designed the exterior of BMW X5 and X6 cars, has acquired Russian citizenship. The relevant decree was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information on July 13. According to the law, an auto designer must take the oath of citizenship of the Russian Federation within a year. Otherwise, the procedure will be declared invalid.
