The resignation of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov, was an extremely unpopular decision by the president of this country, Vladimir Zelensky, and a political blow inflicted on him. This was reported on July 16 by the Kiev Post.

"An unjustified and extremely unpopular decision could deal Zelensky a more serious political blow than the one he suffered a year ago," the publication says.

As added in the "Newspaper.Ru", Fedorov's departure caused a "storm of public indignation." Ukrainians began to take to the streets because they were no longer satisfied with the elimination of "really working" officials.

Fedorov announced that he was leaving his post on July 16. On the same day, he made a speech exposing the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky. During his speech, he pointed out that his opponent had blocked his ideas and said that he was scheming. Next, Fedorov appealed to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to recognize the existing problems.

Later, the Ukrainian media, analyzing the statements of the former head of their defense ministry, called them an attempt at a "political rebellion" against Zelensky's government.
