In August, the rainiest region of the country will be the Far East. Leonid Starkov, the leading meteorologist of the Gismeteo portal, told Izvestia about this.

"In August, the Far Eastern region will be the rainiest. This is due to the fact that the Far Eastern monsoon is entering an active phase. Precipitation levels in this region will be around normal. But there is always a risk," Leonid Starkov said.

According to weather forecasters, August is the peak of monsoon activity in the Far East (Primorye, Khabarovsk Territory, Sakhalin, Kamchatka). During this period, the circulation of air masses in the region traditionally increases, which leads to the formation of powerful rain clouds and unstable weather conditions.

Heavy rains, storms on the coast and strong winds are likely. Due to prolonged and intense precipitation, there is a risk of waterlogging the soil and rivers overflowing their banks, especially in low‑lying areas and near large watercourses.
