Vance acknowledged the Trump administration's mistake in publicly working with Epstein's files

The administration of US President Donald Trump made serious mistakes when publishing documents on the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein. This was announced on July 16 by Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance.

"I say this quite frankly: yes, we really messed up communication on the Epstein case, as it just happened. But do I think we messed up communication because we were trying to hide something? No," he was quoted as saying in the Politico newspaper.

According to the vice President, the White House has completely failed its strategy of interacting with the public and the press. Vance explained that the administration initially overestimated expectations from the publication of classified materials, and then faced criticism, as the released files contained virtually no new information. He added that artificially fueling interest in the documents in the absence of high-profile discoveries was a strategic mistake, and the entire volume of data should have been disclosed immediately.

Epstein's files began to be published on December 20, 2025, after US President Donald Trump signed a bill to make them public on November 19 of the same year. On February 14, former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi published a list of more than 300 names of famous people who are mentioned in the files on the financier's case. It was clarified that the text contains the names of the 42nd American president Bill Clinton, the 46th head of state Joe Biden, one of the founders of Microsoft, Bill Gates, as well as singer Beyonce.
