- CBS has learned about Trump's plans to accuse China of allegedly interfering in the election
In his upcoming address to the nation, US President Donald Trump will declare that China allegedly interfered in the American electoral processes. This was reported on July 16 by CBS News, citing sources familiar with the draft speech.
According to insiders, the top leadership of law enforcement agencies, including the heads of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the intelligence community and the Department of Homeland Security, has been invited to speak in prime time.
"One of the elements of the speech: allegations that Beijing compromised the data of American voters, as well as evidence that the CIA knew about these actions, but did not share information with Trump during his first presidential term," the material said.
White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt urged not to trust anonymous sources, stressing that the exact content of the speech remains a secret.
It is indicated that the very topic of a possible Chinese trace in the American elections has previously caused controversy in the US intelligence community. At the same time, the official report of the National Intelligence Council from 2021 claimed that Beijing did not try to influence the outcome of the vote.
On July 13, the US president announced that he intends to address American citizens on July 17 at 04:00 Moscow time. Jake Traylor, a journalist for MS Now TV channel, later announced that the president's speech would focus on foreign interference in the 2020 American presidential election.
On January 21, Trump said that the conflict in Ukraine would not have started if there had been no rigging in favor of the Democratic Party in the 2020 US presidential election. He added that those responsible for the falsifications would soon be "held accountable for what they had done," calling it "sensational news."
