Xiaomi 12 and other popular smartphones have stopped receiving updates

The Chinese Xiaomi corporation has discontinued support for a number of popular smartphones. This was reported by BGR on July 14.

Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, 12S Ultra, Poco X5 5G, Poco X5 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12T Pro, Redmi K60E, Redmi 10 5G smartphones, as well as Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro tablets received EOL (End of Life) status. Assigning this status means that devices will no longer receive operating system updates and security patches.

The journalists emphasized that many of these models were released relatively recently. In particular, the flagship Xiaomi 12 series was announced in December 2021, and went on sale in the spring of 2022. At the same time, these devices remain highly popular in the markets of Russia, China and Indonesia.

The situation is related to a change in the manufacturer's policy. Earlier, Xiaomi committed to support new devices for at least four years, but this decision was announced only in 2025. Devices released before this date have a shortened period for receiving updates.
