The military of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) came close to some positions of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Slavyansk. This was announced on July 16 by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin.

"Slavyansk itself is in the lowlands relative to the positions that we are now approaching closely," he said in an interview with TASS.

On July 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin was informed about the complete liberation of Konstantinovka in the DPR by the forces of the Russian Armed Forces. The Head of State stressed that the capture of the city opens a direct road for further advance to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, which is the key to liberating the entire territory of the DPR.

Pushilin reported on July 8 that the liberation of Konstantinovka in the DPR had opened the southern gates to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. He also called the city a serious logistics hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is now lost to the Ukrainian army.
