The director of the film about "Hands Up!" shared Zhukov's impressions of the film

Directed by Alexander Igudin, a documentary film by the National Media Group (NMG) titled "Hello, it's Me! The story of the band "Hands Up!" told about the filming of the film, and also revealed the impressions of the lead singer of the pop group Sergey Zhukov from the film.

"With this documentary, you can put a bold exclamation mark in the 30-year-old biography of the Hands Up! group. <...> Our film is honest and explains to everyone that "Hands Up!" is the most popular band in the country," Igudin said in an interview with NMG DOC.

According to him, the reason for the filming was the anniversary of the performer and the 30th anniversary of the band "Hands Up!". He noted that Zhukov was convinced to participate in the filming only by the stories of people who were influenced by the band's music during a difficult period of their lives. The director has been looking for such characters for more than three years — they talked about how the songs "Hands Up!" helped them survive in borderline states between life and death. The film will feature facts that Zhukov has never told publicly, including how he survived in the 90s, even before the band appeared.

"Seryozha cried when he watched this movie. Tears, surprise, delight — such were the reactions," the director shared.

Igudin admitted that he was initially critical of the band's work, but after talking with Zhukov and the second founder of the band, Alexei Potekhin, he completely reconsidered his attitude towards their work. In his opinion, the secret of the band's success lies in the fact that they sang about feelings consonant with a huge number of people.

"Zhukov spoke to the whole country. "Hands Up!" stadiums were assembled, they became their own for everyone. It's not a production project, but an author's project, and it feels like you're sitting at the same table with a man, drinking tea, and he suddenly starts singing," the director explained.

He also noted that the filming took place in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Yaroslavl, and work on the film took place over the course of a year. In addition, music critics, composers, and actors took part in the creation of the film, including Sergey Bezrukov, Ivan Okhlobystin, Igor Nikolaev, Yana Churikova, Sergey Minaev, and Ilya Legostaev. The name of the film was given by Igudin himself.

"I wanted it to be a line from a confession song of the same name. And the film is Sergey's message to all his fans," he shared.
